Binoculars are a great way to explore the night sky. They are very portable and have a wide field of view. As a bonus you can use them for viewing land based objects in the day time, too.
During our stargazing experiences, we use these binoculars mainly to observe open clusters and the Moon. But just wandering through the night sky with binoculars does really expand your vision. Our stargazers are often surprised at how much more they can see when looking up at the starry sky through these binoculars.
10 X 50 mm Premium Binoculars
These high quality light weight binoculars are perfect for exploring the night sky or daytime land based objects. They have quality 50mm optics and anti-reflection coatings for a bright view with a wide field for stargazing. Focussing is easy and precise with the central ‘slow focus’ mechanism.
Its 10x magnification is perfect for hand-held use for astronomy. Higher magnification usually requires a sturdy base such as a tripod.
The porro prisms are great for astronomical observing because of their greater light transmission. The prisms are made of BAK4 glass, a higher quality glass than the borosilicate flint glass used in cheaper binoculars.
Thousands of stargazers have used these binoculars since 2017 during our stargazing experiences and we can vouch for their sturdiness. Test them before you buy during an experience!
We supply these quality binoculars on island in cooperation with Astronz, a not for profit company based in Auckland. Astronz promotes stargazing and the conservation of dark skies.
Book them as an extra during your stargazing experience or contact us if you want to purchase and pick-up as a gift on Great Barrier Island. Our December 2022 price is $130.
