Your Good Heavens’ private stargazing experience takes place in a beautiful location on pristine Aotea Great Barrier Island, a scenic 90kms by ferry, 4.5 hours from Central Auckland or half an hour by plane from Auckland Domestic airport.

Lean back in comfort in a beautiful island location, while you gaze up at the stars during a private stargazing experience. Experience Good Heavens’ high level of hosting.

Imagine an experience that is cosy and comfortable, so you can absorb the moment, the stories and the stars. Good Heavens achieves this by adding a few special extra touches. Your guide brings an 8″ Newtonian Dobsonian telescope, either at your accommodation or at a beautiful beach on Great Barrier Island. You can also expect blankets, moon chairs, hot chocolate, home baked brownies and hot water bottles in the middle of winter..

During your private experience, there will be plenty of time for questions and answers so we can delve into your areas of interest.  Our company is locally owned and operated by a small female team; we really care that you have the best experience possible.

Gaze at stars, constellations, planets and deep sky objects. Please note that when the moon takes centre stage, the Milky Way recedes from our view. Check the calendar for our Moon Walk Experience for the weeks when the moon is full.

A child is under 13 for the purpose of your booking.

Good Heavens do not provide transport, but we may be able to come to you, if you are in an accessible location. In this case, an extra fee for additional travel time may apply. Please enquire.

 

 

 

Terms & Conditions

  • Full payment of your experience is required at time of booking.
    Upon payment, you agree to and accept Good Heavens’ Terms and Conditions and Cancellation Policy, as outlined below.
  • Participants must accept that we are unable to guarantee full clarity, ideal skies, or visibility of certain objects. Experiences operate in a marine environment where the weather can change rapidly.
  • Where the Experience is cancelled by Good Heavens either prior to or during the experience, due to the weather conditions, a full refund will be given.
  • Periodically, experiences may be subject to partial cloud cover for some or all of the tour, or to full cloud cover for some of the experience. In this event we will continue the tour using the sky which is visible and/or available. We may also make use of a multi-media presentation.
  • Translators may not operate on group experiences due to the disturbance to other guests.
  • Please be aware your experience is not subject to partial refunds or discounts for any reason, including the weather (see Cancellation Policy below)
  • Good Heavens reserves the right to cancel or change the duration and/or location of the experience in response to weather or environmental conditions.
  • If you have any questions regarding the likely format of the experience and/or weather, please ask us prior to the experience occurring.
  • Customers are informed that participation in group photos is purely voluntary, as these images may be made publicly available through Good Heaven’s website and/or social media pages.

Cancellation Policy

  • In the event of rain or poor weather conditions, experiences may be cancelled by Good Heavens. A full refund will be issued, minus the dining component where applicable.
  • If you cancel your booking more than 4 days prior to your experience’s departure, you will be reimbursed the full fee.
  • If you cancel your booking less than four days prior to your experience’s departure, we cannot issue a refund.
  • Refunds will be processed within ten working days whenever possible and will, where possible be made in the same form as payment was taken.
  • If you made the booking through a booking/travel agent or any other third party for your tour, the cancellation policy will follow the agent’s regulation. It is then your responsibility to approach them directly for a refund.
